Expense Splitter — Complete Guide & Instructions
MakeCard Expense Splitter settles group spending without spreadsheet math. List the people, record each expense with who paid it, and the tool computes the total spent, the equal per-person share, and every individual's balance — who gets money back and who owes. A settlement list then shows the fewest transfers needed to square everything, like "Amit pays Rs 850 to Ravi".
How to Use Expense Splitter
- 1 Enter all participants as comma-separated names in the People field — e.g. Ravi, Amit, Priya.
- 2 Add an expense row for each payment: who paid, a description, and the amount. Tap "+ Add Expense" for more rows.
- 3 Watch Total Spent and Per Person Share update live.
- 4 Check the Balance list — green "gets" for people owed money, red "owes" for people in debt.
- 5 Follow "The Simple Way to Settle Up" lines to clear all balances with the minimum number of payments.

Pro Tips for Best Results
- Spell each payer's name exactly as it appears in the People list — matching is name-based.

- The settlement plan gives the fewest transfers — follow it rather than paying pair-by-pair.
- For unequal splits, adjust individual amounts so each expense reflects what it should cost.
Common Problems & Solutions
Their name in the "Paid by" field does not match the People list exactly — check spelling and spacing.
Empty or non-numeric amount fields are ignored — verify each expense row has a valid number.
The tool splits equally by default; it does not yet support custom ratios — adjust amounts to reflect each person's share.
Privacy & Security
100% Client-Side Execution
Names and amounts stay in your browser — the tool stores nothing and sends nothing to a server.
